Visiting Albuquerque & Northern New Mexico

Spring has sprung in northern New Mexico, and communities from Albuquerque to Santa Fe to Farmington are full of life, inviting visitors to join in a variety of seasonal festivals and family-friendly fun.

It’s the perfect time of year for outdoor adventures, and the Land of Enchantment is home to 35 scenic state parks. Fish for trout at Bluewater Lake State Park, west of Albuquerque, take a hike at Cimarron Canyon State Park, southeast of Red River, or take the boat out to Conchas Lake State Park, not far from Tucumcari. The options are endless this season.

In Gallup, bookworms young and old won’t want to miss the 2016 Gallup Author's Festival – A Celebration of Cultures on April 9th. In honor of National Library Week, the Octavia Fellin Public Library hosts readings, book signings, and special meet-and-greets with local and regional authors. The free fun starts at 10 a.m.

Albuquerque, New Mexico’s urban hub, celebrates its 310th anniversary in 2016. On April 16th, experience all sorts of fun within the Historic Old Town area. Head down and join residents for an afternoon of live music and entertainment, food, and shopping, as area merchants open up to offer special deals and discounts. The 2016 Fiestas da Albuquerque start at noon.

On May 7th, the 10th Annual Folk Art & Music Festival fills the Farm and Table Event Center and Restaurant with color and conviviality. Albuquerque visitors and residents celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a colorful array of music, art, delicious food, and more fun. Skip breakfast and come down early to enjoy it all – things get started at 9 a.m.

The 2016 Spring Festival & Fiber Arts Fair is an opportunity for Santa Fe visitors to bask in beautiful spring weather while gaining a little better understanding of the history of the Land of Enchantment. El Rancho De Las Golondrinas hosts the event, which features living history reenactments and live demonstrations of wool dying and sheep shearing as well as an art market and other hands-on activities for the whole family. Gates open at 10 a.m.
