Capulin Volcano National Monument
Set on the Raton-Clayton Volcanic Field, the Capulin Volcano National Monument is located in northeastern New Mexico in Capulin. Set near Raton, the monument was founded in 1916 and covers nearly 800 acres.
Preserving an extinct cinder cone volcano, the Capulin Volcano National Monument features five miles of hiking trails, plus biking, auto tours, and the Capulin Volcano Visitor Center. Head to the top of the volcano along the two-mile Volcano Road.
