The charm of downtown Albuquerque remains prominent with historical city landmarks. One of Albuquerque's best-known landmarks is the KiMo Theatre. KiMo translates to "mountain lion" in the Tewa language.
This Art Deco-Pueblo Revival Style theater was built in 1927 and features indigenous motifs and terra cotta shields above the third-story windows. Thankfully, local residents saved the theater from demolition in 1977.
The theater has been renovated throughout the years to keep the building current for theater performances and shows. Visit the theater to see feature films, classic films, animated films, live concerts, theater productions, lectures, living history events and ballet in cinema.
